Rock Bottom is Relative

August 21, 2020September 12, 2020 ~ The Sober Ginger ~ 1 Comment

This is a story about my "Rock Bottom" I guess. But the funny thing about a Rock Bottom is that it looks different for everyone and it rarely looks like people would imagine. Mine happened on my couch. Bottom looks very different for different people. One person digs until they are just about losing the … Continue reading Rock Bottom is Relative

Just don’t drink. ⁣
I know they’re super comfortable, but I need a refill! ☕️😕☕️
I feel a metaphor coming on! 🤦🏻‍♂️⁣
Day 666 - Hell is Moderation⁣
Updated numbers from the CDC now show that “excessive alcohol use is responsible for more than 95,000 deaths in the United States each year, or 261 deaths per day. These deaths shorten the lives of those who die by an average of almost 29 years, for a total of 𝟮.𝟴 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘁. It is a leading cause of preventable death in the United States, and cost the nation $249 billion in 2010.”⁣
It’s funny how things line up.⁣
I read a journal entry I made two years ago today when I was having one of the few, true panic attacks of my life. That day everything seemed to be spiraling out of my control and the thoughts followed... ⁣
I had a thought tonight and chuckled because my “just go to bed” that I would tell myself as I used to pour another drink has seemed to turn into “just one more page” as I read this book in bed. And even though the sleep isn’t going to be ideal tonight I’ll still wake up 1,000 times better tomorrow than I used to back then.⁣
I always felt this time of year was kind of like limbo or the dark ages! Maybe that’s because I live somewhere that’s cold and snowy so it forces us to stay inside more. But you come down from the holidays, college and pro football wraps up if you’re into that sort of thing, Hallmark holiday is over (oh wait, never mind, that’s Sweetest day), and now what? I guess there’s spring break to look forward to, maybe, if you’re planning some time off but the next holiday weekend is 3 months away and we’re supposed to be getting 8-10 inches of snow over the next 24 hours.⁣
Repeat often! Never stop looking for that growth. We’re not meant to know WTF we’re doing every step of the way. ⁣
